Gamma Ray Astronomy and Baryonic Dark Matter
Recently, Dixon et al. (1998) have re-analyzed the EGRET data, finding a statistically significant diffuse γ-ray emission from the galactic halo. We show that this emission can naturally be explained within a previously-proposed model for baryonic dark matter, in which γ-rays are produced through the interaction of high-energy cosmic-ray protons with cold H2 clouds clumped into dark clusters th...

There has been increasing interest in recent years in negative regulators of haemopoietic stem cell proliferation. Such factors , as well as being of general interest in the understanding of the regulation of haemopoiesis, may also have profound clinical implications; for example, in alleviating the neutro-penia which follows destruction of the haemopoietic system by cytotoxic agents used in tu...
متن کاملTraining educators to implement functional analyses.
The present study examined the use of an instructional workshop for training educators to conduct functional analyses. Results indicated that 2 of 3 participants met the accuracy criterion following group training, whereas 1 participant required direct verbal feedback. During generalization probes, one participant accurately conducted sessions with a student in her classroom.

Standard Gaussian-type statistics are not really adequate to describe atmospheric variability; this traditional approach implicitly dismisses fluctuations as "noise" of use only in computing a standard deviation which, together with the mean, presumably varies so little in space and time that one can meaningfully speak of "climatological" values. In geophysics, unfortunately, this approach ofte...
متن کاملTeam Training in the Skies: Does Crew Resource Management (CRM) Training Work?
The aviation community has invested great amounts of money and effort into crew resource management (CRM) training. Using D. L. Kirkpatrick's (1976) framework for evaluating training, we reviewed 58 published accounts of CRM training to determine its effectiveness within aviation. Results indicated that CRM training generally produced positive reactions, enhanced learning, and promoted desired ...
